At Callan Family Office, Betty Pettine serves as director of philanthropic consulting, where she supports individuals, multi-generational families, and nonprofit organizations to successfully achieve their philanthropic vision. Betty brings her 34 years of extensive and diverse experience in financial services and nonprofit leadership to help families connect their wealth to purpose and realize meaningful legacies. Additionally, nonprofits rely on Betty to align their mission to potential donors and educate their boards and staff on topics such as governance and financial and investment acumen.
Prior to Callan Family Office, Betty was senior vice president and philanthropic specialist, primarily consulting with clients within Abbot Downing, Wells Fargo’s ultra-high-net-worth practice. As a member of Wells Fargo’s philanthropic services, Betty’s practice focused on grantmaking, governance, and educating the next generation of philanthropists for some of Wells Fargo’s largest foundation and donor-advised fund giving, as well as facilitating direct gifts and bequests made across the United States and around the world.
Previously, Betty spent 16 years with The Vanguard Group, Inc. (Malvern, PA), where she oversaw the ultra-high-net-worth wealth management and client service experience, leading many of its operations and transfer agency units and working with some of its largest nonprofit, government, and retail relationships.
Betty is a graduate of St. Joseph’s University’s Haub School of Business where she earned an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. She earned her undergraduate degree in business administration from Millersville University. Betty has served as a board member for local and national nonprofits, including the Morris Arboretum of the University of Penn, Smith Playground and Playhouse, and HelpHopeLive–a national resource for community-based fundraising for people with unmet medical expenses. She currently serves as an Advisory Council Member for Schwab Charitable.
In addition, Betty is just one of 1,200 individuals worldwide to hold a 21/64 Certified Advisor designation, indicating a desire and practice that helps others make more strategic decisions around their time, talent, treasure and ties through an understanding of their identity and values. She also has earned the Certificate in High Impact Philanthropy from the Center for High Impact Philanthropy and the School of Social Policy & Practice (SP2) at the University of Pennsylvania.
