At Callan Family Office, George Burnette serves as Director of Philanthropic Consulting & Wealth advising individuals, families, and family enterprises on the complex intersection of philanthropy, wealth, and legacy planning. He also works closely with nonprofit organizations to help align their missions with prospective donors while educating boards and staff on topics such as governance, planned giving, and fiscal stewardship.
With more than a decade of experience spanning the legal, financial services, and nonprofit sectors, George is recognized as a trusted advisor known for his thoughtful counsel, technical expertise, and practical approach to sophisticated planning matters. His diverse background across philanthropic, legal, and wealth advisory disciplines provides him with a broad perspective on the evolving needs of affluent families and nonprofit organizations alike.
Prior to joining Callan Family Office, George served as Vice President and Philanthropic Strategist at First Citizens Bank & Trust, where he helped design and develop the firm’s national philanthropic and charitable offering.
A North Carolina native, George earned his Juris Doctor from the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law and holds degrees in History and Peace, War, and Defense from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a licensed attorney and member of the North Carolina State Bar, a Certified Financial Planner CFP® , Accredited Trust Financial Advisor (ATFA), and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (TEP).
