At Callan Family Office, Derek Decker serves as Director of Family Office Advisory, working closely with ultra-high-net-worth families who rely on the firm for a comprehensive, single-family-office–like experience. As a senior relationship leader within the Family Office Services & Advisory platform, Derek provides proactive, high-touch advisory support and serves as a primary point of contact for clients navigating complex financial, governance, and family office matters.

Derek works in close coordination with the Managing Director of Single-Family Office Services and partners across the firm’s specialty teams to deliver integrated support. He helps coordinate planning, governance initiatives, trust and fiduciary matters, philanthropic strategies, and family-entity administration while ensuring requests are executed accurately and efficiently. Acting as a liaison between clients and internal specialists, Derek collaborates with tax, accounting, trust, planning, and administrative professionals to address complex needs and ensure services remain aligned with each family’s broader strategy. He also works closely with the firm’s Chief Family Office Strategist and Chief Tax Strategist to ensure advisory work integrates seamlessly with long-term planning frameworks and tax considerations.

In addition to overseeing ongoing client relationships, Derek supports onboarding and transitions for new ultra-high-net-worth families, contributes to refining the firm’s family office service model, and helps develop best practices within the advisory platform. He also collaborates with external attorneys, trustees, accountants, bankers, and insurance professionals to ensure coordinated, multidisciplinary service delivery.

Derek received his bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance from Grand Valley State University and his master’s degree in taxation. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (in-active) and a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA).
