Stephen J. Trempe, CFA

Investment Management
Partner
During his 20+year professional career, Stephen Trempe has focused on supporting the investment needs of private clients and institutions. At Callan Family Office, Steve leverages his prior research and portfolio management experience to contribute to the firm’s investment process, strategy, and execution. Through collaboration with entrepreneurs, families, institutions, and their advisors, he helps them define their unique investment objectives and builds customized strategies aimed at achieving their goals. Complex clients with multi-generational wealth, and institutions with varying stakeholders, time horizons, liquidity, and return requirements, require the expertise of an investment professional who serves a limited number of comparable clients and is experienced at investing across public and private capital markets.
Prior to Callan Family Office, Steve held various positions at Abbot Downing, Wells Fargo’s ultra-high-net-worth practice, ascending from a research analyst to senior portfolio manager over his 12-year tenure. Before leaving, he was responsible for nearly $2 billion in assets under management. In addition to providing investment solutions and execution for clients, he also contributed to investment research and strategy, business development, and project management on both a regional and national scale.
Previously, Steve entered the industry working for a small bank and trust company in Delaware before transitioning to the head of manager research and due diligence for an institutional consulting team that was employed by broker-dealers such as Legg Mason, Smith Barney/Morgan Stanley, and Janney Montgomery Scott.
Steve earned his MBA from the Villanova School of Business, with specializations in real estate and finance. He also holds bachelor’s degree in management, with a concentration in finance from Bucknell University. Steve is active in his community and serves on the board of directors of a local private swim club.
