As Chief Investment Officer, Doug Evans leads Callan Family Office’s rigorous investment process comprised of research, investment strategy, portfolio construction, and risk management. He spearheads the development of the firm’s investment capabilities, thought leadership, and cultivating partnerships to enhance positive outcomes for client portfolios. Additionally, he serves as a key liaison between the firm and the Callan Institute, which is widely recognized as one of the investment industry’s leading research and education forums.
In his current role, Doug draws upon more than three-decades of experience in providing discretionary investment portfolios across liquid and illiquid assets and serving as an outsourced CIO for ultra-high-net-worth families, foundations, and endowments. With a strong macro perspective, Doug is a sought-after speaker and regularly appears in media and industry conferences.
Prior to Callan Family Office, Doug was the executive vice president and head of investments for Abbot Downing. In this capacity, he also served on Wells Fargo’s Global Investment Strategies and Global Investment Risk committees, which had oversight of $2+ trillion in assets.
During his previous tenure, Doug was one of the main architects behind the investment platform nationally recognized by Family Wealth Report as Best Private Asset Manager (2014 and 2016) and by Private Asset Management as Best Private Wealth Manager (2017) and Best Investment Platform (2019).
He graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara, with a master’s degree in business and economics, with an emphasis in econometrics, and a bachelor’s degree in economics. A Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) and a Certified Investment Management Analyst® professional, Doug is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of San Francisco, and the Investments and Wealth Institute. He serves on the advisory board for Grace Christian Academy and the Green Music Center.
